This decade has witnessed an increasing flow of trade and investment between China and Africa. The volume of bilateral trade which was about $ 10.6 billion in 2000 jumped to $106.8 billion in 2008. The Chinese FDI stock in Africa which was only $491 million in 2003 rose to $5 billion at the end of 2008. While at the governmental level there appears to be political will and commitment to foster relations to achieve a win- win results, Chinese companies which wish to invest in Africa often have little or no knowledge about the local situation in Africa. African business people also lack sound knowledge of China and the Chinese market. In spite of the huge potential such bilateral trade and investment flows present, only a few private initiatives exist to facilitate deals.
With its unique combination of professionals from both Africa and China, China Africa Bridge seeks to facilitate a smooth business environment between Africa and China with a view to realizing sustainable development through win-win cooperation.
